This is my story and how I met Somisan.

At the age of 9, I had an “awakening” experience. I was in a deep state of despair and hopelessness, and after wondering why my life felt to separated from others, suddenly I left my body. I was everywhere and had no shape or sensation of pain or temperature. It was the most beautiful feeling, and I didn’t want to come back into my body. I could see everyone I loved and I could feel their feelings. I knew why they were in this life. I remember being “told” that my life would be about healing and helping others, and that as I grew, I would realise that my life had great meaning.

Several years ago I was told that a monk was with me in spirit, and he wanted to work with me again. I did some meditation and found him. I saw a white square with a red and blue yin and yang in the centre with black roman numerals in the corners of the square, but these were not exactly roman numerals. I tried to find this monk’s name and he asked me just to write it down, so I took a pencil, closed my eyes and wrote “Somisan”.

I looked up “Somisan” online, and found the Jongmyo shrine in South Korea near a place called Somisan. When I investigated this shrine I recognised the place. I asked Somisan about this and he said that he and I were monks here 600 years ago, and people came from far and wide for healing. He said that we had agreed that in this lifetime of mine, we would continue this healing. The white square with the yin and yang is the South Korean flag.

Ever since then I have welcomed Somisan as my guide. We have done many healings together and continue to do so.
